Our Mission:
"Enrich the lifestyle of our clients and team members by culitvating beauty, value and positivity in our community"
Before starting Grass Monkey in 2006, Founder I spent several years working in design related professions. After being downsized from a corporate role, in retail advertising, I began to consider more independent types of work. Despite a mortgage and three young children to support, My Wife offered her encouragement to pursue this less secure path. Thanks to her trust, I enjoyed many years of freedom and a good deal of success while working independently as a model and freelance designer. The experience and confidence of “making it on my own” began an entrepreneurial line of thinking. This line of thinking led me to seek new paths of deeper professional fulfillment.
I began to test various entretreneurial types of work. I had a personal interest in landscaping and nature dates back to my childhood. I have many fond memories of helping my Mom and Dad put out mulch, plant trees and setting out flats of impatience in just the right pattern for planting. However, I had never seriously considered landscaping as a profession.
More by chance than intent, I heard about some friends and relatives who needed to have some landscaping work done. After mowing a few lawns and doing a few small projects for these friends and relatives, I immediately realized that he love the work. I love to see a shabby lawn quickly transform into a neat and tidy freshly cut lawn. I love to see a transformation of a property with newly edged beds and fresh coat of mulch. I love digging the hole where a tree will live and grow for years to come. I love to be physically tired at the end of the day… instead of stiff from sitting behind a desk. Even more than the work, I love the relationships he and the company have built with clients. In fact many clients have been with us since we started out in 2006. It’s a great feeling to have so many loyal clients that truly appreciate the hard work of our team and our core values of quality, authenticity, growth and community.
These core values and great team members are the cornerstone of our company. As we continue to grow, and offer more comprehensive services, building this team of like minded individuals remains critical. I am humbled by the hard work and commitment of so many people who have worked with us over the years. Without their hard work Grass Monkey simply couldn’t exist. Many of these valued team members have gone on to pursue other interests. Others have been with us for years and play key roles in our continued success. In any event, these values and the amazing people of our past, present and future are what makes Grass Monkey one of the leading lawn and landscape service providers in the area.
